Gifted with a unique ability to lead and inspire a new generation of believers, Rev. Newman faithfully served as Youth Pastor at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. On November 8, 2016, he received a higher divine assignment and was called to pastor Beulah Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio, where he served with distinction and faithfulness.

After several years of impactful ministry, God once again ordered his steps home. On September 9, 2018, Rev. Newman was installed as Pastor of the Historic Antioch Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio. Under his leadership, Antioch continued its rich legacy of effective, relevant, and community-centered ministry, reaching the lost, restoring hope, and reconnecting people to the church.

In 2025, under Rev. Newman’s visionary leadership, Antioch Baptist Church of Columbus entered into a historic merger with Jordan Bible Church, resulting in the formation of Antioch Jordan. Since its inception, Antioch Jordan has experienced tremendous spiritual, numerical, and community growth, becoming a thriving, unified congregation committed to transformative ministry, intentional discipleship, and impactful outreach. The merger stands as a testament to Rev. Newman’s faith-filled leadership, commitment to unity, and obedience to God’s call.

Rev. Newman is a graduate of Ohio Christian University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and a Bachelor of Religious Education. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from Franklin University.

Pastor Newman currently serves as the Executive Director of the Ohio Baptist General Convention & Auxiliaries, Inc. He is a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Social Justice Commission, and serves as President of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education. Additionally, he has served as a lecturer for the Young People’s Department of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., along with numerous civic and professional organizations at both the state and national levels.

 

Pastor Newman is married to the lovely Janna Newman, affectionately known as “Lady J.” Together, they are the proud parents of five amazing and energetic sons: Lorenzo, Charles “CJ,” Carson, Daylen, and Jayce.
